Nice scale that’s is a little on the high side regarding price
This is a decent scale. It seems to be accurate, based on weighing items with known weights. It’s nicely constructed with smooth finishes & durable stainless steel weighing plate. The weights show in nice, large, very bright light on the panel. You can weigh items using metric & US weights, grams, ounces. pounds & kilograms. I was disappointed that the fractional weight didn’t extend to two digits.I make my pets’ food & that requires very price measurement. I use both forms of measurement, metric & US. When measuring ingredients I use ounces & pounds. When measuring vitamin, mineral & fish oil supplements, I measure in grams. The supplements are all designed to be measured in grams. Meats are measured in pounds & ounces, because that’s what I’m most accustomed to & that is how the meats are sold.The scale has a nice sized measuring surface that can hold a cereal bowl sized receptacle & it doesn’t overhang the top of the scale or block the panel where the weight is displayed.The weight is displayed in brightly illuminated numbers. My one complaint about this is that it only has the ability to weigh objects to the tenths of ounces. I prefer a scale that can measure to hundredths of ounces because I need precision when weighing supplements & I also use hundredths of ounces when weighing food for my pets. I have a pet who is on the heavier side & I need to track her intake to prevent her from becoming overweight & to precisely reduce the amount to allow her to lose weight without feeding her too little.Having a phone app that works in conjunction with the scale offers people a comprehensive library of nutrients, such as calories, carbohydrates, fat & protein. I’m unlikely to use that feature myself, but I believe it’s a nice perk for those who want to use this scale to evaluate & measure their food. Honestly, I’m confused about the opinion for making pour over coffee. Coffee without additives has no calories or measurable nutrients typical of measuring when dieting. I’m assuming the purpose is to measure the water & the grounds in order to make a reliably similar cup of coffee each time you make it. I don’t measure my coffee with anything more than a coffee scoop & that’s plenty reliable enough for me.In my opinion the price is high at $40.00. It’s not extremely high or over the top unreasonably priced, but I would expect to pay around $35.00 for a scale like this & possibly as low as $32.00, so the price is off by $5.00 – $8.00.This scale comes with the three AAA batteries it requires, which is nice. If you don’t care that this only measures to the tenth of an ounce, then I would suggest trying it. But if you need something that will weigh out to the hundredth of an ounce, I would suggest looking further. It is a nice scale & the phone app that coordinates with it provides an additional feature that is very helpful to those who want or need to compute the nutrients in their food.

This Smart food kitchen scale is a convenient way to track your eating habits and ensure you are getting the amount of nutrients your body requires. I was worried that it would be confusing or difficult to fully utilize this scale the way it is intended, but it is extremely easy. You scan the QR code, download the SmartApple app (I have an Android and use the Play Store), create your profile, and start weighing. The app is free download and there is NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE! That alone is what sold me on this scale.You can use the app to simply check the nutrition facts for your food, or you can really utilize all of its features by creating a nutrition plan and tracking your daily intake of macro and micro nutrients. Even without the app, the scale is still functional for weighing items. You can easily change the unit of measurement (pounds, oz., fl.oz. , ml, and grams).To get the nutrition information for your food you simply open the app, place your food on the scale, and search for your food in the database. The nutrition facts can be viewed in the app and it will also be displayed on the scale’s screen. The display screen is clear and easy to read, however the writing is somewhat small and may be difficult for a person who has difficulty seeing, but for most people it should be fine. The food database is extensive and from what I can tell it is very accurate. Many food items can be searched for including fast food and restaurant items. The barcode scanner is the most convenient way to look up food in my opinion. Simply scan the foods’ packaging barcode to find the exact item you are looking for. In the rare case that you cannot find the food you are looking for in the app, you can customize foods yourself. This smart food scale is very versatile and can be used for simple or complex tracking, whichever you prefer.The scale itself does not take up a lot of counter space, it measures about 8.5in X 6.2in in size and it is only about .7in thick. The black and gray color along with the thin sleek design allow it blend nicely into the background instead of it being a big bulky eye sore. This scale does require 3 AAA batteries which are included. There is a battery indicator on the scale so you can see when your scale is dying and can replace the batteries before it dies completely. I will say I have used this scale numerous times now and the battery indicator has not lowered yet, so it seems like this scale uses very little power to operate and function.Overall, I think this is a durable and nice quality smart food scale. I love how you do not have to utilize every single feature of this scale to benefit from it. I think the current 40 bucks is a fair value for this smart scale, and I have been very happy with it thus far.
