We added the Champion Sports Rhino Slam Ball to our home workout gear, and it’s been awesome for all of us — from warm‑ups to full‑body workouts. The textured outer surface gives a solid grip, even when hands get sweaty, and the reinforced stitching makes it feel super tough and durable.
My boys especially love using it for slams, wall throws, and partner challenges — it’s become a fun way to get active together. It doesn’t bounce back, so you can really focus on power and control, and the range of weights means everyone can use it at their own level.
If you’re looking for a versatile, well‑made slam ball for strength and conditioning, this one is a great value and holds up really well!

So I got the ball, and it was a bit larger than I had anticipated. No big deal, I can work with it. The weight is good, but it is a little off balance. I bought it mainly as a wall ball, which is where the problems begin. The ball is leather (or similar material) which means its VERY slick unless your hands are a little grimy and sticky. It's hard to catch, as the ball wants to keep sliding between my hands. Are there benefits to this?? Sure…as you have to squeeze a little harder to secure the ball and work different muscles in the process. However, it also makes the ball more difficult to handle as you get more and more tired and try different movements. I've recently bought some hockey tape and covered most of the ball with it. Time will tell if this is lasting fix or not.

The material is fantastic. Have been using this for quite a while now and still seems as though it is brand new. The weight is perfect, I went heavier on purpose and it definitely worked. Also when it was delivered all I had to do is pull it out of the box and it was ready to use.

This is a great medicine ball. It surprises you at first because it seems deceptively light until you pick it up. I love tossing it into the air and catching it for a work out. Good to grip. I actually incorporate it into an introduction ice breaker at a youth group and the kids love it as they introduce themselves in a circle while tossing and catching the ball

I bought this for my wife in December of 2019 and am now writing this review in August 2020 (photo from August 2020). She's done probably 25-30 CrossFit workouts using this for strictly wall balls. We paid 31.99 for this wall ball at the time and we selected it because it was so cheap and we were still starting out building up our home gym. Overall I would purchase it again for 31.99 but we're looking at getting a new one because this one just isn't good enough. You get what you pay for. 3 stars. Not bad but there are certainly much better products out there.
    Pros:
Cheap – at the time, this ball was super cheap compared to competitors. With COVID19 I see it's over $70 on Amazon now which is crazy. I would absolutely avoid this ball for $70. For 31.99 like we paid? Yeah that's more worth it.
Well made – as stated above this has been through 25-30 workouts and there are zero issues with the stability of the ball. No signs of wear on the seams. In fact, this is almost a con as I will discuss below
    Cons:
Too sturdy – this thing is hard. Like really hard. There is almost no flex which means that when it comes to catching it, it almost slips through your fingers. Because the exterior is so smooth it contributes to this problem. Do not get this ball unless you're experienced with the weight of the ball you're selecting. This thing is difficult to catch versus the myriad of other balls we've used for CrossFit, especially when round 5 rolls around and you're dying.
The bounce – sort of tied into the above issue, this ball won't just stay where it falls. If you're doing your last rep or taking a break and let the ball hit the ground then it will bounce a foot or two in the air, remain unstable, and roll away from where you're doing wall balls. It's super inconvenient if you're doing a workout for time and this thing rolls away.

A well made, affordable medicine ball

Reviewed in Canada on July 5, 2024

Contrary to the title of Amazon's product page, this is NOT a slam ball. It's a medicine ball. If you look at the company's website, it states that the warranty is void if this ball is slammed to the ground from overhead. That said, it's a very well made medicine ball for the price. The stitching seems more than adequate and the PU leather feels like it's good quality. It should hold up well when being used as a wall ball or for low impact floor exercises. I don't find it to be particularly slippery, as other reviewers have mentioned, and the weight is centred well in the one I received. This ball is a welcome addition to my home gym and a great way to keep workouts fun by adding some variety.

Product Summary: Champion Sports Rhino Promax Wall Balls – Soft Shell Non-Slip Grip for Weightlifting, Plyometrics, Cross Training, & Home Gym

From Champion Sports
MIX UP YOUR ROUTINE: The Rhino Promax slamball offers a fun and unique way to get an effective workout without using traditional gym equipment. Incorporate our jumbo slam balls into your workout to improve speed, agility, cardio and core strength.
SMOOTH, SUPERIOR GRIP: Brandishing our proprietary Rhino Skin leather shell, users experience a comfortable yet controlled, non-slip grip. The exercise ball’s large, ergonomic build makes it easy to throw, catch, and slam – even when sweaty.
UNRIVALED STRENGTH AND PERFORMANCE: Offering more give and bounce than typical medicine fitness balls, our slam ball was built for significant wear-and-tear and extreme surface contact. Its durability will hold up to every slam, throw, or maneuver.
FULL BODY WORKOUT: Slam wall balls challenge main muscle groups as well as smaller, stabilizing ones. Adding these heavy balls to aerobic activity, weight training, or exercise classes ensures a full-body workout from head-to-toe.
Product use through repeated impact on rough surfaces or slamming it on the ground from overhead voids the coverage
