Does this even sing?
I have another singing bowl that’s on the small side. This Leoriaie Mini Singing Bowl Set, Small Portable Brass Meditation Sound Bowl with Copper Striker Ball & Drawstring Pouch, for Yoga, Mindfulness, Relaxation, Chakra & Spiritual Gift (1.6 in)…is ludicrously small. Yes, I saw the dimensions, but there are at least 2 product images that make it seem much bigger than it is, so I was hoping it wouldn’t be ridiculous. It absolutely is.The striker ball is basically a ball bearing on a leash. There’s no real way to control it—certainly no way to do anything other than ring the bowl. There’s no “singing”—no elongating of the sound, no way to make the resonance take on a heavenly tone. Granted, the sound is pretty and clear, but it’s high and doesn’t last long. It’s more a “dinging” bowl.

Pretty mini singing bowl, but not sustained sound
My 7 year old loves singing bowls as his councilor at school has them in her office, and my husband has all sorts of chimes throughout the house, so this seemed fitting. It is much smaller than I had initially expected but that’s on me, as the dimensions are listed. While the sound isn’t really reminiscent of a singing bowl without much vibration, he still enjoys it. I personally found it difficult to hit with the ball so I don’t really feel its easy to use.Visually it looks great; like a singing bowl that’s been miniaturized and I’m sure on a larger scale this would be great, but this just cant produce the desired effects. It feels more like a desk decoration than a meditation tool.

tiny. lovely.
I have a pretty large collection of meditation tools. This tiny little bell is a lovely addition. I like keeping mini singing bowls in the office and the car for moments when a brief reset is beneficial. You can open to the moment anywhere. My others in this size range are wider and didn’t have a base. I think the base will open up some cool mounting options. It is not fancy. It does not reverberate with the wisdom of the ages. But it does require a bit of focus to strike appropriately, and rewards with a brief, clear tone. The bell is attached to the base with a screw. Unlike the other reviewer, I didn’t notice odor of any kind. I would pay full price for this, but I’m a sucker for this kind of thing. The coin in the video is a penny in case that’s a helpful size reference.

Not at all what you are expecting
On the display page of the Amazon site for this product, under the page, “The Science of Sound”, and the title “Hand Tuned Craft”, there is a photograph of this bowl being hand tuned by a hand and a hammer. The size of the bowl, in comparison to the full scale human hand, would put the bowl at about 6″ to 8″ across – especially considering the size of the hammer. In fact the bowl is 1.25 inches in diameter, and is screwed on to a wooden block. It couldn’t resonate if you hit it with a sledge hammer. The bowl itself appears to be brass, but so what. If I swing the little ball as hard as I can, I get a “ping” that lasts three seconds – not a low resonating sound used to promote meditation, but an annoying and irritating ping that sounds like a typewriter ha reached the end of its track.I could go on, but I wont. This is at best a child’s toy, and a very young child at that. In fact you might want to keep the copper “striker” away from small children for fear of ingestion. The only meditation this little thing might promote is a long and careful self inquiry into why you ordered it in the first place.I do not recommend this.

So tiny it’s difficult to use; pitch is really high
I felt a little ridiculous after this singing bowl arrived, but everyone in the family got a pretty good laugh out of it.If you’re more of a visual shopper like I am, definitely pay close attention to the SECOND photo in the description. It’s the only one that actually shows how tiny this bowl is, and I completely missed it. It’s very very small–like dollhouse, miniature small and I’m not even sure a quarter could fit inside it.If you look at the measurements, it’s about an inch wide and a little over an inch tall from the base to the top, and the base is almost bigger than the bowl itself. The mallet hangs on a leather cord, but it feels hollow and not very high quality. The volume is pretty decent for how small it is, but the pitch is really high and because it’s so tiny, it’s also difficult to get it to “sing” rather than just clink. For me personally, it just isn’t very calming to use (but for some reason my cats are drawn to it).I’ve found larger, higher quality singing bowls for a similar or not much higher price point than this one (currently $15.99), so I wouldn’t get this again. That said, it has definitely become a fun conversation starter at our house.

Teeny tiny itty bitty
This little singing bowl’s much smaller than the pictures lead you to believe! It’s truly tiny… About 1/4 the size you’d expect from the listing photos. It’s essentially the size of a finger cymbal, so don’t expect it to serve much of a purpose for actual sound healing or deep relaxation sessions. It’s still a pretty cool object to have around, even if it’s not functional for meditation. The sound’s very high-pitched and tinny rather than a resonant, healing tone, but it makes for a unique decoration. It’s a fun little talking piece for a desk or a side table, and the craftsmanship’s decent enough for what it is. It’s just more of a novelty item than a spiritual tool.
