Heavy duty Bentgo box for teens and adults
I decided to spend the extra money this school year and get these for my high school boys who need to bring a lot of food to school because they have after school practices. This is a significant upgrade to what we were using before in that these hold much more food securely. They are heavy and large, which is something to consider when buying these. I included photos of a common type/size of lunch bag the kids use today so you can see that these do fit in here and the lid closes. You cannot fit a drink in the main bag part with the Bentgo box, however, this type of bag has a bottom part that zips open and can hold a drink along with a zip front pouch and back mesh pocket for snacks etc. So this will work for us. Just make sure you measure your lunch bag/box if you have to carry this size Modern Bentgo. Inside the box you have a large compartment on the left that has a removable divider so you can use the entire space if you need to. The right side does not have a removable divider. The box easily snaps shut and feels extremely durable, like it will last for many years. Overall, for the hefty price, I believe if you are looking for something that will last, need to pack a big lunch for teen boys/others, and need to eliminate the headache of using other containers that leak or are cheap plastic, this is a great investment! The company has an amazing hassle free warranty, exchange, and customer service program with an email and phone contact for support along with a one year extended warranty on this product. It is also very gift-able, in that it comes in a nice sturdy box with a handle on it. 6/25/2024 review update: I had to use the customer service support via email on the company website and can report that they do stand behind the product. I received a free replacement due to the hinges breaking on the box. The hinges will definitely break on these if you open them and put stress on it. I was washing them by hand and laying them open upside down to dry. This was putting too much tension on the hinges and it did not take too much for them to break. Unfortunately, the plastic hinges once broken cannot be repaired, rendering the lid and box useless. So my advice for washing is to hand wash and air dry with lid open but not upside down. Make sure anyone using a box knows not to put stress on the hinges of the lid. Once it breaks, you cannot repair it yourself as the hinges are plastic. A redesign of the lid which makes the hinges more durable or even replaceable somehow would make this product much more appealing given the product is pretty costly. You want the product to last. Given that the company is replacing them if they break, I still can recommend them. It was really fast how the company responded and I had my replacement within a week.

I love the sleek design and the color is beautiful! I purchased this for my son and it keeps his food warm throughout his school day until he was ready to eat. It does not leak in his bookbag like the others he had prior.There are some issues. Where the tip folds down there is a plastic piece that holds the lid on. It did break off. However! I was sent another one within a few days of reporting the issue.Customer Service is great! They have a 2 year warranty and they have no problem honoring it!This is the best box I’ve purchased and most likely the only brand I’ll be purchasing from here out.The storage is larger than most and there is a removable tray that allows you to put more food. I was able to fit 2 sandwiches in there. I also love the ease of cleaning due to the removable tray.Great buy!

Make sure you get the updated box
So I am on my second version of this lunchbox. The first one lasted quite some time until I handed it down to my son. Didn’t last more than a month.I ordered another one thinking it was just because my first one was getting a little old. Well, to my surprise they completely updated the hinge system and it’s no longer a small, two little nub system. They have made it a larger tab and even added a small, metal rod for support.So if you were on the fence about this due to reports of the hinge breaking. Have no fear. An update was made and it is much more sturdy than before. And none of mine have ever leaked. I’ve had mine sideways in a laptop bag with oil and vinegar dressing and never experienced a leak.Overall a great product. Docked it one star because of the prior poor hinge design.

Great lunch box; greater support
I bought my first Bentgo lunch box and really liked the size and layout of the compartments. It feels solid. I wound up having an issue with the unit and Bentgo customer support replaced it almost immediately. After a few months, the plastic hinge nubs broke off. Once again, their customer support sent me a new one, this time an upgraded unit with metal hinges. Their products are great and their customer support is even better.

Perfect! Sturdy- Easy to clean- perfect sized compartments-perfect for an adult- you can take the insert out to wash- the divider insert doesn’t keep liquid from going to the other side-I wrap my deli meat in saran wrap and put it in the smaller side in my salad on the other side. I use the other two slots for either fruit, nuts, slices of cheese, olives, pickles…It’s a very versatile container container. I wouldn’t use it to heat items up. It is a bit pricey, but I think quality speaks for that. I think this will last me a very long time versus some of the other brands and options I saw which seemed kind of flimsy and not as durable.

Questionable quality
Biggest complaint – Quality.I bought this bentgo in April 2025 to replace my daughter’s previous bentgo box because it melted in the dishwasher (even though they’re supposed to be at least top rack safe). Now, less than a year later, the lid has broken off. My son’s also melted in the dishwasher, preventing it from closing properly. That’s now 3 of these bentgo boxes I’ve purchased, all of which lasted less than 1 year.Another small complaint I have with these is the silicon or rubber portion of the seal on the lid gets stained and food particles get In there and it can be difficult to clean.That said, I do like the size of these, I like that the main piece comes out and the compartments are convenient. They also do not seem to leak at all.
